ROMPCO

ROMPCO owns and operates the Mozambique-South Africa Pipeline, the high-pressure gas link carrying natural gas from Mozambique into South Africa.

The Republic of Mozambique Pipeline Investments Company (ROMPCO) is a joint venture between Sasol, South Africa’s iGas and Mozambique’s Companhia Moçambicana de Gasoduto (CMG). It operates the Mozambique-South Africa Pipeline, which transports natural gas from Mozambique into South Africa. [1][2]

History

The pipeline links the Pande and Temane gas-producing region in Mozambique with South African customers. ROMPCO has invested in pipeline looping to increase in-country transmission capacity; additional pipeline capacity can support deliveries but does not create upstream gas reserves. [1]

Key milestones

  1. Began operating the high-pressure pipeline system under the Mozambique-South Africa pipeline arrangements. [1]

  2. Completed a 128 km loop line to increase in-country pipeline capacity. [1]
