Accuracy and attribution
Material factual claims require visible numbered footnotes. Sources must support the precise claim being made. The Editorial Desk distinguishes established facts, allegations, interpretations and opinions, and uses measured language for every subject.
Independence
No person can pay for inclusion or favourable coverage, approve final wording or require accurate relevant material to be removed. Advertising and sponsorship are not accepted.
Adverse claims
Controversies, litigation and criticism are considered case by case for materiality, reliable evidence, proportion and context. Allegations, complaints, investigations, arrests, charges, civil proceedings, findings, judgments, convictions, appeals, acquittals and withdrawn proceedings are described distinctly. A filing or allegation alone does not establish guilt. For serious adverse claims about a living person, the Editorial Desk may seek factual comment without granting editorial approval.
Review and corrections
Published records should be reviewed at least annually. A “Last reviewed” date appears only after an actual review. Significant corrections may be recorded on the affected page. Request a correction.
