Reinet Investments

Luxembourg investment company created in the 2008 Richemont restructuring, with a portfolio held through Reinet Fund.

Published · Last reviewed

Reinet Investments S.C.A. is a Luxembourg investment company established in October 2008. It emerged when the former Richemont SA changed its legal form and name. Its shareholders participate in investments through the wholly owned Reinet Fund. [3][6]

History

The restructuring moved the luxury interests to the Swiss Richemont company. Reinet began with assets centred on the former group’s BAT investment. The transaction separated two investment propositions that had previously traded together. [3][2]

Reinet invested in Pension Insurance Corporation Group from 2012. In 2025, PICG announced an agreement for Athora to acquire the group. Reinet subsequently confirmed completion of the disposal of its full holding on 27 March 2026. [7][6]

How Reinet is managed

Reinet Investments Manager manages the listed company. Reinet states that Rupert family interests control this management company. Johann Rupert chairs the manager. Control of the manager and ownership of the listed shares are separate relationships. [4][1]

The BAT and PICG disposals

Reinet reported the sale of its remaining BAT shares in January 2025 for gross proceeds of €1.448 billion. A portfolio chart that still places BAT under Reinet after this disposal is out of date. [5]

For its entire PICG holding, Reinet reported receipt of approximately £2.9 billion in March 2026. This was the consideration for Reinet’s interest, rather than the price for all PICG shares sold by every shareholder. [6]

What the name does and does not establish

Reinet’s origin is a corporate restructuring. The listed company, Reinet Fund and the manager perform different functions. Their names should remain distinct when tracing the assets, the shareholders and the management relationship. [3][4]
